The Petition for Appointment of Guardian filed in the above matter will be heard by the Honorable Denise Barela Shepherd at the Bernalillo County Courthouse, Albuquerque , New Mexico on the
10th day of May, 2018 at the hour of 9:30 a.m., with 30 minutes allocated for the hearing, to determine whether a guardian should be appointed for Matthew Anthony Branton. The purpose of this proceeding is to protect Matthew Anthony Branton . At the hearing, the Court will determine whether Matthew Anthony Branton needs to be protected by a guardian under New Mexico law. If the Court finds that Matthew Anthony Branton is in need of a guardian and is incapacitated, the Court shall consider whether Christine Neal should be appointed as his guardian. The Court may at its discretion, appoint some other qualified person or entity as guardian. The Court may also, at its discretion, limit the powers and duties of the guardian to allow Matthew Anthony Branton to retain control over certain activities. Matthew Anthony Branton shall attend the hearing and will be represented by counsel. The Petition may be heard and determined in Matthew Anthony Branton’s absence if the Court determines that his presence is not required. If Matthew Anthony Branton attends the hearing and is not represented by counsel, the Court shall appoint an attorney to represent him. The Court may on its own motion, or by request of any interested person, postpone the hearing to another date and time.
